Writing Fiction?

My friend, who happens to be from Canada, wants me to get into writing fiction.

Now, I used to work on a small cross-over for the Midna Fan Forum called "The Legend of Midna: Sosarian Knight" but I stopped it quite early. While the storyline did not fail at grabbing the audience, I became rather lazy and didn't want to keep updating the damn thing. However, most of my friends tell me I'm an accomplished story teller.

Oral story teller, mind you. When it comes to writing I'm rather mediocre at best. Still, my Canadian friend has been pushing me into writing something concerning my various ideas, on the grounds that I keep it original. I have a habit of indulging into inspiration a bit too much; instead of making something my own, I look at what already exists and try to make it better, hence my dream Ultima project. He wants me to make something 'original,' tentatively called because he does not care if I base it off my inspirations but change the names and feel around a bit. Actually, thinking about it that is how a good chunk of creations start, because nothing is truly original these days.

In some Neolithic cave in France there might be a painting of a cross-over Naruto/Metroid fan-fiction; everything else has been derived from the ancients.

Also to get my point across further read this line : Hercules > Superman > Goku

P.S.
Thinking back to my crazy past, I have to be cautious what I put on the internet. I've been an odd ball in my youth. And it carried into my 20s. But I must be aware what I write and publish. This stuff may haunt my friends, family, or even future career (or lack thereof).
